Tell Me About a Time You Had a Conflict at Work❓
To help better understand this question, Terkel asked for my opinion, along with other career thought leaders via @Terkel. I'm happy to be one of the few to be selected for the feature, but that's beside the point. 😉 Check out my recommendation below: https://lnkd.in/g7SXjhvg For more career advice contact me: https://lnkd.in/g2_RzjG #workconflictresolution #careeradvice #conflictatwork #workconflict #workculture

"If we get COVID at work do we get paid from employer?" This was the question that was asked during a career panel last week. While this is a very pertinent question, it is also complicated. However, after much research here is your answer: Most employers are providing paid time off for time that you must take off to get better from contracting COVID at work. However, this will vary from employment place to employment place and it will depend on what your employment status is with the company, the number of hours you work, and if you qualify to receive any "sick leave benefits." This is where the complicated part is, so I have come up with four contact and reference points to consider when determining if you qualify for paid time off. 1. Your Human Resources department and sometimes it is called the Employee Relations department. 2. Your direct supervisor or hiring manager, who should be trained in how to authorize paid sick leave due to COVID. 3. Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA), which provided anyone who contracted COVID paid leave under qualifying employment conditions. However, this act has expired as of the end of December 2020. There is talk of having the act reinstated again, but that is yet to be determined. However, many employers are still honoring it if it falls under qualifying conditions. 4. The US Department of Labor updated their FAQ's on FFCRA for more details on paid leave due to COVID. I hope this helps anyone looking for information on COVID paid leave. AuthorAnalia Mendez, CEO of Signature Careers- A Career Transitioning Company A challenging career year? 😱 To say the least! Don't you agree? I know it's been the most challenging and probably the worst year for many of you. It has been very challenging for me too! However, when I was asked to give a "SUE TALK" I jumped at the chance! Truth be told, I didn't know what I was getting into when I said, "YES!"
You see I have spent the last 20 years speaking in front of large audiences and I am really good at impromptu and formal presentations. However, when I was told that I had to speak from the heart about my career, personal success and challenges and I only had twelve-minutes to deliver the talk to a live audience with no teleprompter…well I panicked! 😨 Wouldn't you? I took it as a challenge and an opportunity that could and would change my life. So, I pushed myself because I knew that there were women that needed to hear my story. If you are reading this, you probably need to hear my story too. Today, I share this picture as a testimony that regardless of your challenges, you should never walk away from an opportunity that may change your life because it may not come around again. I can sincerely say that after giving the Sue Talk, I am a different person. Soon I will be sharing the video with you too, so you can hear the talk. I know you will get a lot out of it. Meanwhile, post share and comment about your challenging career moments this year and talk about how you overcame them. Did someone help you along the way? Did you join a support group? Everyone needs someone to help them along the way and If you don't have that someone in your life–I am here for you!
